Baker Mayfield has been one of the more pleasant surprises to start the 2024 NFL season.  His Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-0 hosting the Denver Broncos Sunday.

Mayfield's total passing yards prop bet was listed at 237.5.  Compare that to the Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix at 190.5.

Mayfield completed 12-of-19 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 20-16 Week 2 victory over the Lions, adding 34 yards and a touchdown on five rushes as well.

From NBC Sports:

Mayfield only had 19 attempts, but still managed to put up nearly 20 fantasy points. He displayed tremendous toughness after being sacked five times by Aiden Hutchinson and was able to scramble for multiple first downs and a touchdown. Mayfield was excellent in Week 1 and pretty good against the Lions in Week 2. He’ll look to keep the good games coming against the Broncos at home in Week 3.

Mayfield’s passer rating of 129.1 is the second highest in the NFL through two games. His 33 touchdown passes since joining the Bucs last season are the third most in the league over that span.

“For me, this is what I wanted. This is the group that (I wanted). Taking a chance to come here, understanding the pieces that I had and the potential that this group could have,” said Mayfield, who bounced from Cleveland to Carolina to the Los Angeles Rams before signing a one-year deal with Tampa Bay after Brady retired.

“For me, there (were) a lot of low moments last year, so it could have even been better,” Mayfield added. “It’s never about the individual stats anyway, it’s just about trying to find ways to win. It’s been awesome so far.”

This game featured a line of Tampa Bay -6, down from -7.  We get a number of 7.36, suggesting a slight underlay.
