Bucs vs. Lions Week 2 Betting Preview
The Tampa Bay Bucs head to Detroit as a +7.5 road dog after opening at +6.
It's interesting to note that the Lions are the fourth team in NFL history to open a year with two straight playoff rematches.
David Montgomery’s 1-yard touchdown run in overtime lifted the Lions to a 26-20 win over the Matthew Stafford-led Rams on Sunday night to start the 2024 NFL season.
“Early in the season, a lot of games come down to who makes the fewest mistakes,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said. “We made one less than they did.”
The Buccaneers also start the 2024 season 1-0 after routing the Commanders 37-20 to spoil Jayden Daniels’ debut.
Baker Mayfield threw 289 yards and four touchdowns and Mike Evans caught two TD passes while Chris Godwin and rookie Jalen McMillan each scored once for the Bucs.
“We got to spread it around a bunch. A lot of guys got the ball,” said Godwin, who had eight catches for 83 yards. “I think we have the potential to be a really dominant offense.”
Mayfield's passer rating of 146.4 was the highest in the league in Week 1, leaving him and his teammates brimming with confidence about the direction of the offense under first-year offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
Sagarin suggests Detroit can win this game by 9.5 points. Since the start of this week, the line has moved only a half point between the 7 and 7.5. We have found that underlays when the line is between 7 and 7.5 provide little edge according to our own model.
