The LA Rams announced Sunday they would be allowing LB Ernest Jones IV to seek a trade.  His loss will likely be a blow to the Rams defense.

It's easy to see why.

General manager Les Snead has referred to the defensive playcaller as the "leader of the defense" and then-Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris called it Jones' defense near the end of the 2023 season.

Jones had 145 tackles and 4.5 sacks last year, both career highs.

The 24-year-old has totaled 320 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three interceptions in his three-year career.

A 2021 third-round pick, he was part of the Rams' Super Bowl-winning team in his rookie season.

Prior to Sunday ookmakers are expecting the Los Angeles Rams to be a little worse in 2024, as the team's over/under is set at 8.5 wins, compared to the 10 games they won last season. The Los Angeles Rams are listed with 30-1 odds to win the Super Bowl as of August 19.

It's not immediately clear what impact, if any, the Jones move will have on the odds.
