The Detroit Lions will take on the Arizona Cardinals in a late afternoon game (Eastern Standard Time) Sunday.

The Lions have been a -2.5 to -3 point favorite during the course of this week.  Sagarin gives us a number of 1.01 Detroit, indicating an overlay.  Our model does not suggest an edge for either team with the overlay in the 2.5 to 3 range.

The Lions have dominated the series recently with a 4-0-1 record since 2017.

Detroit enters this game with a 1-1 record Straight Up and Against The Spread following a loss to Tampa Bay last week.

Lions coach Dan Campbell lamented a mistake he made in the first half that likely led to the 20-16 defeat whereby the offense and special teams had both units on the field. That drew a flag that ran off the clock and took away an opportunity to kick a short field goal and pull within four points.

“I asked this team to improve and they improved, but the coach cost them the game,” Campbell said. “It is a massive error on my part. I messed up.”

If Detroit made that field goal, it potentially would've been a kick away from winning the game in the fourth quarter.

“It was fortunate for us,” Bucs coach Todd Bowles acknowledged.

Jared  Goff finished 34 of 55 for 307 yards, and the offense he leads was 1 of 7 in the red zone.

“That’s ultimately the difference in the game," he said. "If we score a couple touchdowns down there, we probably win the game.

"I think that’s a good team and we fought hard, but we made too many mistakes.”

The Arizona Cardinals enjoyed a statement victory against the LA Rams last week, 41-10. Arizona (1-1) snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Rams (0-2) at State Farm Stadium.

Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. caught the first 2 NFL touchdowns of that game.

Kyler Murray had one of the best games of his career against the Rams, completing 17 of 21 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns while also running for 59 yards.
