Saquon Barkley to Score an Octopus Prop Bet Payout - Chiefs vs. Eagles - Super Bowl 2025

Saquon Barkley to score an octopus in this year's Super Bowl between the Eagles and Chiefs promises a payout of $2000 for every $100 bet.

So what is an octopus in the NFL?

The name was derived by Mitch Goldich, a former Sports Illustrated writer and editor.  The octopus occurs when a player scores a touchdown and then the two-point conversion. The player must carry the ball into the end zone on both plays.

With Barkley has the highest touchdown probability at 57 percent, should he score, there’s actually a pretty good chance he converts a two-point attempt.

And it's happened a few times.

• In Super Bowl history, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles recorded an octopus to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.
• Torrence Small recorded the first octopus in the NFL in 1994.
• Rob Moore and Terance Mathis were the first players to score two octopi.
• Ryan Mathews was the first player to score two octopi in the same season.
