CJ Stroud Total Passing Yards Prop Bet

Texans starting quarterback CJ Stroud total passing yards Over/Under for Saturday's AFC Divisional Round came in at 227.5.

Stroud threw for 282 yards with a touchdown pass to Nico Collins and an interception. He joined Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger, Baltimore’s Joe Flacco, the New York Jets’ Mark Sanchez, Seattle’s Russell Wilson and San Francisco’s Brock Purdy as quarterbacks to win playoff starts in each of their first two seasons.

Stroud also ran for 42 yards, highlighted by a career-long 27-yard run to help set up a field goal that put the Texans up 10-6 at halftime.

Stroud, who is not known for his scrambling ability joked about his “slow speed.”

He said the long run energized him.

“I felt my joy coming back after I got up, and it’s just one the best feelings in the world,” he said. “After you make a play, you’re just turned up and your teammates are turned up with you. That’s one of the best feelings in the world. I think that gave our team juice. I think me using my legs is definitely going to be helpful this postseason.”

Patrick Mahomes Passing Yards Prop Bets

Patrick Mahomes total passing yards prop bet for this game came in at 249.5.

Prior to sitting out Week 18, Mahomes completed 29-of-38 passes for 320 yards with three touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 29-10, Week 17 win over the Steelers.

Before that, he completed 28-of-41 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s 27-19, Week 16 win over these same Texans.

Not that Mahomes got much rest during his supposed down time.  He and his wife Brittany just welcomed their third child.

Mahomes credited the timing and said he was thankful for the additional time it gave him.

“It was cool that we got the bye because you can just really focus in on being at the hospital and being in the moment and it’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms experience and you don’t forget about that stuff. I’m just glad I was able to be there and support them the best way I can,” Mahomes said.

The Chiefs quarterback doubled down on being a girl dad and said watching all three of his children together is fun.

“It’s cool to welcome another baby girl to our family and see how my other kids react to her and having ‘baby Sissy’ and stuff like that. It’s been a lot of fun,” Mahomes said.

Line Analysis, Comparables, Betting Action and Top Handicapping Predictions

75% or more of the spread action was coming in on the Chiefs.  83% of the cash was on the Chiefs as of Thursday night.

Sagarin suggests the number should be no more than Chiefs -3 (2.78).

There are injuries among the Houston squad that may not necessarily factor into the Sagarin number.

Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), guard Shaq Mason (knee), offensive lineman Juice Scruggs (ankle) and WR Robert Woods (hip) missed practice this week. DE Denico Autry (knee) and TE Dalton Schultz (shoulder) were limited.

The Chiefs are healthy after they were able to rest everybody of consequence in Week 18 with nothing to play for in Denver. They also could have DB Jaylen Watson back for the first time after he injured his left ankle against San Francisco on Oct. 20.

Comparables include:

  • Chicago +7 to +9.5 New Orleans with an overlay of 1.5 to 4.

Before You Bet

  • The Chiefs only won 4 of their 15 games this season by eight or more points.
  • The Texans held Justin Herbert's offense to 12 points, and he threw four interceptions, proving they can defend the pass.
  • The Chiefs have not beaten Houston by more than the current spread in their last three head-to-head meetings.
