The map below courtesy of BetOnline.ag is based on geotagged X data in the last 24 hours, tracking tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about who will win this year's Stanley Cup.

For example, "Avalanche will win the Stanley Cup," "Panthers will repeat," "Stars will win the Stanley Cup," "Oilers will win the Stanley Cup," etc. Over 60,000 tweets were tracked.

Also keep in mind this is a predictions map, and does not indicate rooting interest.

As you can see from the map, the Colorado Avalanche are the favorites this year, but they have to get past a very tough Dallas Stars team. Many believe the winner of that series will be the western conference representative in the Stanley Cup Finals.

In fact, the first round of this year's playoffs sees some brutal matchups (which is also entertaining) such as the Avalanche vs. The Stars, or The Florida Panthers vs. The Tampa Bay Lightning.

Canadian teams like the Oilers and Jets are of course hoping to break the 31 year drought for a Canadian team winning the Stanley Cup.

The state and province breakdown is as follows:

Avalanche - 21 states                                (AK, CA, CO, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MN, MT, NE, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WI, WY)

Panthers - 7 states, 2 provinces               (FL, GA, ME, MA, NH, NY, RI, Newfoundland and Labrador Quebec)
Hurricanes - 5 states, 3 provinces           (CT, NJ, NC, OH, SC, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island)

Stars - 6 states                                          (AR, LA, MI, MO, OK, TX)
Capitals - 5 states                                      (DE, MD, PA, VA, WV)
Lightning - 4 states                                    (AL, MS, TN, VT)

Oilers - 3 provinces                                    (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan)
Golden Knights - 2 states                         (AZ, NV)
Jets - 1 province                                        (Manitoba)
Maple Leafs - 1 province                           (Ontario)

No other team beat out one of those 10 teams in any other state or province.
