Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faces two serious challengers as she battles for a second term amid major criticism of her time in office.
BetOnline had Bass advancing as the favorite with that confirmation coming early on.
“I appreciate you for standing with me when others doubted me, because you know who I am,” she told supporters. “I have devoted my entire life to serving the city that I love, where I was born, and I’m going to continue to do that all the way to victory in November.”
Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, a Republican whose home burned in the 2025 Palisades Fire, is coming at Bass from the right, while City Council member Nithya Raman, a former Bass ally and Democratic Socialists of America member, is challenging Bass from the left. Raman had the third longest odds at BetOnline coming into Tuesday's primary.
If a candidate gets a majority of the vote, they will win the election in one go. If not, the top two candidates from the all-party primary advance to the general election.
Raman soared to a 71% chance of advancing to the LA mayoral runoff at the prediction market Polymarket, as officials continue processing mail-in ballots with over 30 percent still outstanding. Pratt still led Raman by nearly 7 percentage points as of late morning California time.
