The online sportsbooks and Las Vegas shops lost badly this past weekend with some of the more heavily bet on teams covering.  That trend continued into Monday Night where the Tennessee Titans slaughtered the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 30-3.  Some online sportsbooks had Tennessee getting over 85 percent of the action in this game.

The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers were among the most heavily wagered on teams of Week 6 while the Indianapolis Colts probably received the most volume of any teams playing.  All three managed to win against the spread.

"Everyone has been talking about the books doing great. We enjoyed a pretty good run through September," MGM Resorts sports book director Jay Rood told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "The pendulum swung back the players' way. We're going to have a losing day.

"You're going to have days in the NFL that just don't go your way."

While the gambling public won many more games than usual, only the Colts and Titans had lopsided action over 85 percent and volume tended to be less significant among the remaining games.  Losses in Vegas were said to be minor according to the LVRJ.

One shining light for the online sportsbooks and Vegas bookmakers was Philadelphia beating Atlanta.

Jay Kornegay, the Las Vegas Hilton vice president for sports and race-book operations, told the Philadelphia Inquirer:  "(Kevin) Kolb hasn't been getting a lot of support from the bettors . . . and there was the perception that Atlanta was the best team in the NFC, even if by default." – Christopher Costigan, Gambling911.com Publisher
