Saturday night, the Avalanche and Kings played a pre-season game at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It's the annual game in Las Vegas and the Avs won the game 4-3 in a shootout. But the great part in about spending the weekend in Vegas is that there is much more to do than watch a hockey game. On Friday night, members of both teams participated in the Luc Robitaille/Shelter for Serenity Celebrity Poker Tournament. It's a great charity event and also game us some interesting pictures of NHLers in front of the poker tables. Take the one above picturing Robitaille, Tony Granato and PJ DeLuca, a member of the Avalanche staff.

Founded by the husband and wife team of Luc and Stacia Robitaille in response to the Gulf Coast disasters, SHELTER FOR SERENITY dedicated its efforts towards rehabilitating the lives of families crippled by devastating losses - not just of home and property - but of their human potential.

Since its inception, SHELTER FOR SERENITYhas expanded its mission to address the needs of disenfranchised children in the Los Angeles community. SHELTER FOR SERENITY seeks to provide housing for those displaced for any reason, with the goal of supporting them on the path to self-sufficiency and long term success.

The Robitailles, with the help of friends and supporters, made it their personal mission to raise families out of devastation by giving them an opportunity to start over. SHELTER FOR SERENITY is focused on directly rebuilding their lives - by helping get them on the road towards new homes, new jobs, and new futures.

More than just a charity fund, SHELTER FOR SERENITY is people setting aside their day to day activities to personally get involved and make a difference in the lives of their fellow human beings, in the Gulf Coast area, and beyond.

In addition SFS's new sister charity ECHOES OF HOPE acts to awaken the spirit of hope in the lives of at-risk, foster, and emancipated youth in the Los Angeles area by providing the resources, knowledge, skills and support they need to reach their full potential.
