Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots

The Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots spread was listed at -5 in favor of the Patriots at most online sportsbooks.  BetUS.com had the Patriots at -5.5 coming into Saturday.  Some books did have this one off the board due to Brett Favre’s “questionable” starting status.   He has two fractures on his left ankle.

Though Favre did practice on Friday, Vikings head coach Brad Childress has said that the quarterback starting would be a gametime decision, saying that he "probably will" wait until the last hours before kickoff to decide.

"Can he protect himself? And what gives us the best chance to win?" Childress said in response to a question about whether he wants Favre to start.

If he doesn't, Tarvaris Jackson will take over.

"I'm not losing any sleep over it. It will all sort itself out," Childress said.

The 2-4 Vikings will face the 5-1 Patriots in a situation where New England is 6-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0 and the Vikings are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games, giving New England a tremendous advantage in this game (especially if Favre doesn’t play much).

Gambling911.com notes that there are not a whole lot of other significant trends to consider coming into this game.
