Falcons vs. Carolina Spread

The Falcons vs. Carolina spread had the Panthers as a +9 home underdog at some online betting sites.  A few were holding Atlanta at -7 while the majority had the Falcons at 7.5 on the road.  Just shy of 90 percent of the bets were coming in on Atlanta with the spread.  Nearly all the money line action was on Atlanta despite the steep price.

70 percent of those betting the 42.5 total were on the UNDER.  There is a reason why people like the UNDER in this game. 12 of 15 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL since 1992.

Gambling911.com notes that Atlanta is the most bet on team in the NFL as of midweek after the Indianapolis Colts.

The Falcons have been a good pick for bettors in recent weeks, going 4-0 Against The Spread.  Compare that with Carolina, who have gone 1-5 ATS over the past 6 weeks.

Last week, the Falcons just managed to squeak past the surprisingly good Tampa Bay Bucs by a score of 28-24.  Atlanta is now 3 games ahead of the 7-5 Bucs in the competitive NFC South division but only a game ahead of the reigning Super Bowl champion Saints.

Though they may have won, Atlanta did look vulnerable.

"We felt like we really outplayed them for most of the game, but it's the NFL," Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman said. "You have to find a way to win in the fourth quarter nearly every week, and today we weren't able to do that."
