BetUS.com on Tuesday has slashed the New England Patriots odds to win the Super Bowl from 5/1 nearly in half to 5/2 or +250.  The Pats become the first team of the season to push far ahead of the pack, or at least that is the perception.

In reality, New England has the same record as the Atlanta Falcons at 11-2.  There are two teams with 10 wins, the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints.  A total of 5 teams have 9 wins each.

New England destroyed the Chicago Bears this past weekend on the road at snowy Soldier Field by a score of 36-7.  That win automatically qualified the Patriots for a spot in the post season.

"There's a long way to go," Brad said after that game. "I don't think anything's really been accomplished yet. We're working hard. I don't think we've got every problem solved. There are plenty of defenses that have kicked us around this year. We don't sit in here and think we've got it all figured out."

New England entered the season with 13/1 odds of winning the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Pats will host Green Bay on Sunday, quite possibly without injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers starting for the Packers.  A decision related to Rodgers was not expected until Thursday.

New England finishes the season off in Buffalo and as host to Miami during the final week.
