Omnibus Spending Bill Dead In The Water Like Internet Poker Bill

Forget any chance of Senate Leader Harry Reid’s Internet poker draft bill getting attached to a trillion dollar plus omnibus spending bill during this lame duck session.  That’s because there won’t be any spending bill passed after all.

The Democrats and Reid decided against bringing the pork-filled bill to the floor late Thursday evening.

Although Reid staffers confirmed to ESPN.com Wednesday evening that the draft bill to legalize online poker would not be attached to any pending proposed legislation, there were still those holding out hope that it might be sneaked in.

Republicans included a number of pet projects to the mega spending bill but the party as a whole objected to the huge number of earmarks.

Reid would instead seek to extend current funding while Republicans are likely to push for deeper spending cuts once they assume control of the House in January.
