The 49ers-Rams spread was listed anywhere from St. Louis -1.5 to -3 depending on the Internet sportsbook.  The line originally opened at Rams -1 so we have seen the oddsmakers looking to attract money towards San Francisco.  Spread action was actually pretty balanced on this game while they money line was getting around 95 percent in favor of San Francisco.  The total was seeing 85 percent on the OVER 39.5.

Remarkably both these teams still had Playoffs hopes despite their losing records.  San Francisco was coming into this game with a 5-9 record.  St. Louis was at 6-8.  The Rams at least have been overachieving this season based on an initial assessment of this team and their past season wins.

San Francisco will be eliminated with a loss in this game.  The Rams still have a shot at the Playoffs even with a loss.  St. Louis and Seattle are currently tied atop the sorry NFC West.

"I don't look at being fortunate in a division," St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "I just know that until they tell us we cannot make it to the playoffs, that's what we're still shooting for.

"If we happen to get in there, it won't matter what the record is. It doesn't matter how you get in, it doesn't matter whether you're in there as a wild card or a divisional winner, if you're in you've got a chance to win it all."

San Francisco has won the last 5 games in this series, giving them a tremendous edge coming into Sunday’s game.

There were a number of important betting trends for the 49ers-Rams game.

The 49ers are 9-2 Against The Spread in their last 11 games on turf.

The 49ers are 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.

The 49ers are 10-3-3 ATS in their last 16 games following a ATS loss.  They are also 14-5-2 ATS in their last 21 games following a S.U. loss.  That being said, the Rams are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss.

The 49ers are 9-3-2 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog.

San Francisco is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. NFC West.

The 49ers are 1-5-3 ATS in their last 9 games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0 and 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog of 0.5-3.0.

The Rams are 5-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

The Rams are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.

St. Louis is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

The Rams are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 vs. NFC West.

The Rams are 6-16-1 ATS in their last 23 games as a home favorite.

In any other year we’d say jump on the 49ers based on past head-to-head performance alone, but the Rams are an improved team while San Francisco is not.
