The Music City Bowl North Carolina vs. Tennessee spread was coming in at North Carolina as the road pick or even depending on the sportsbook.  The spread action was even as was the total betting (Over/Under 50.5).

Chris Low of ESPN.com noted that Tennessee and North Carolina will be playing after all, in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.

“The two teams were supposed to begin a two-game series next season, but Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton paid the penalty to get out of the series because he didn't want the schedule to be so overloaded this early in Derek Dooley's tenure.”

The Scout’s Edge offered the following prediction:

Tennessee is riding a four-game winning streak and is playing in its home state. North Carolina, on the other hand, dropped three of its last six games and lost Carter late in the season. However, the Tar Heels have battled adversity all year and we like their experienced quarterback and determination on defense. Yates will spread the ball around and continue to make plays in the face of pressure, and while Bray has the weapons to move the ball against the UNC secondary he isn't consistent enough to take full advantage and North Carolina is capable of slowing the Tennessee ground game.

With that being said, the Volunteers are 3-9 Against The Spread in their last 12 non-conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. ACC.  They are also 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as an underdog, albeit 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog of 0.5-3.0.

The Tar Heels are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. SEC but are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
