Chick-Fil-A Bowl: South Carolina vs. Florida State Betting Odds

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl South Carolina vs. Florida State betting odds had South Carolina as the 3-point favorite with a total line coming in at 54.5 at SBG Global.  This game goes off 7:35 pm Eastern on ESPN.  Nearly 75 percent of the backing in this game was on the Gamecocks spread.

Two teams looking for their 10th win of the season will meet on Friday night in the Georgia Dome as South Carolina battles Florida State in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.  Each team won nine games this season and both are coming off losses in their conference championship game.

South Carolina is led by freshman running back Marcus Lattimore who had 1,198 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.  Lattimore definitely made it easier on quarterback Stephen Garcia who completed 65.1 percent of his passes for 2,816 yards and 20 touchdowns. Garcia has a great target to throw to in Alshon Jeffery who caught 79 passes for 1,387 yards and nine touchdowns.

Florida State is led by quarterback Christian Ponder who threw for 2,038 yards and 20 touchdowns in 11 games.  He is coming off surgery on his right forearm but has looked healthy in practice leading up to this college football game.  It is a huge game for Ponder as he needs to show NFL scouts he is fully recovered and can make all the throws.  The Seminoles are very balanced as they also averaged 167.8 yards per game on the ground.

South Carolina and Florida State both had solid defenses this season but each team had their issues stopping the pass.  This game is likely going to come down to which quarterback plays better.  Ponder is considered the better quarterback but whether or not he is fully healthy is the question.

Florida State and South Carolina have not played since 1991.  FSU leads the all-time series against South Carolina, winning 15 of the 18 meetings. Here are more football betting stats for Friday’s game. The Seminoles are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 bowl games. The Seminoles are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games as an underdog. The Seminoles are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the SEC. The Gamecocks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games. The Gamecocks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games.

The Over is 5-0 in the Seminoles last 5 games in December. The Under is 11-3 in the Seminoles last 14 vs. the SEC. The Over is 8-3 in the Gamecocks last 11 games overall.
