The state of Florida is considering Vegas-style casinos according to reports on Monday.  And where better to host big time poker tournaments than one of the US’ most popular destinations, Miami.

Florida’s new Governor, Rick Scott, remains open to the idea of slot machines, poker tournaments and more in the state even though he has expressed opposition to gambling in the past, including during his campaign.

Scott says he doesn’t want “Florida to become very largely dependent on gaming for revenue.”

Currently, Florida has seven casinos on Seminole Indian properties.  The Hard Rock Casino Resort in Hollywood, Florida is among the most successful casino operations in the country.

Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s Sheldon Adelson said he would be willing to put in up to $3 billion on a casino/hotel/resort in Miami, the home base of the Gambling911.com website.

Wynn Casino is also investigating its options in Miami.
