The 3rd installment of Superstar Showdown on PokerStars took place this past Sunday and featured a showdown between two of online poker’s most popular players:  Viktor “Isildur1” Blom and Dan “Jungleman12” Cates.

From Aintluck.com:

With these two heavyweights settled in, they did not disappoint their fans.  The match-up played out like an intense NBA playoff game with a slew of lead changes in the first half of play as the two warriors three haymaker after haymaker which left railbirds as woozy as each other. Before reaching the halfway point each player had reached, and blown $20k leads as their dual aggressiveness led to numerous all ins and one monster pot after another.

It is believed some spectators needed to be helped off their computer chairs as a direct result of being winded.

Eventually, Cates was able to take down some five figure pots just to cut Blom’s lead to $50k and Blom vanquished Cates for a $52k profit and upping his Showdown record to 2-1.

If the fans had any say, it’s likely they would look to make this match-up a weekly treat.

Isildur1 was signed to PokerStars late last year under the cloak of mystery as nobody knew his true identity, though many had him pegged as young Swedish player Viktor Blom.  PokerStars had a “Coming Out” party of sorts for Blom just a few weeks ago.
