Whether we see $90 million bet in Las Vegas this weekend remains to be seen, but Super Bowl 2011 betting has been brisk all Sunday morning with significant traffic (mostly from search and social networking) reported at the Gambling911.com website.

“It’s been a nice steady flow with peak traffic expected between the hours of 2 pm ET and 6 pm ET,” says Payton O’Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.

This was not expected to be a record setting year online due to limited payment processing options available across the sector.  Credit card and eCheck deposit methods were still available in the US, but with stricter acceptance rates.

Las Vegas, on the other hand, could shatter records.  Some Sportsbook Directors have predicted upwards of $90 million wagered across the board.

Las Vegas tourism officials claim an estimated 275,000 visitors traveled to Las Vegas over the weekend.  The Chinese New Year has also helped boost those traffic numbers.

Officially, the Nevada Gaming Control Board estimates $82.7 million will be wagered on the Super Bowl throughout Nevada casinos.

This year, like with last year, mobile betting was expected to play a major role in helping the action continue straight through the game.
