Chris Christie Press Conference

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said during an 11 am press conference (delayed for approximately 10 minutes) that he still has not decided on whether to veto or sign a bill related to legalized Internet gambling in the state.  He has until the stroke of midnight to decide, otherwise the bill automatically becomes law.

Christie may become sidetracked during the afternoon as thousands of police and firemen are expected to converge on the state capital protesting budget cuts that have resulted in escalating crime in cities such as Paterson and Camden.

At 6 pm, Christie was expected to participate in a dinner honoring his first year anniversary as Governor.  The dinner had been delayed for over two months and is rescheduled for today.

Should Christie sign the bill, New Jersey would lead the way for other states to begin offering legalized online gambling.  The sites would be hosted out of Atlantic City and produce upwards of 500 new jobs and millions of dollars for the state’s struggling economy.

He advised of a decision some time later today but did not give specifics.
