Brunson10 rep Alex Kamberis’ was all over the news Wednesday for two different reasons. First, he was among the top 20 chip leaders at the Bicycle Casino Big Event poker tournament, but controversy ensued on the forums late Wednesday related to Kamberis as well.
According to one poster at the TwoPlusTwo.com poker forum, Kamberis reportedly walked over to another poker player, JJ Prodigy, calling him a “f***ing scumbag”.
Doyle Brunson, who is the face of the online poker room sponsoring Kamberis, was yet to issue a comment on the matter.
But one member of the popular posting forum was quick to respond with this:
This isn't news. JJProdigy is a ****ing scumbag. Lots of people know that. Sometimes I guess they say it to his face.
And others were quick to chime in.
He's a cheater who continued to cheat after he got caught. I don't see anything wrong with calling him a scumbag.
Oh, it didn’t stop there.
Eh. He should probably get a penalty I guess. I just don't really care that much. I don't care much in general about people cursing or insulting other people in tournaments.
I'm sure JJ gets called a scumbag all the time. He should get called a scumbag more often. He's a scumbag. His scumminess isn't super old news either. I don't really remember the specifics, but basically he comes to 2p2 every year or so apologizing and then doing something scummy again.
Gambling911.com notes that when one types in the name “JJ Prodigy” into Google’s “instant search”, the search engine automatically adds the word “cheat” to the inquiry.
So why the animosity towards JJ Prodigy? The PokerKing.com blog recently provided a recount of the allegations leveled against the controversial poker player:
An account named "ablackcar" ended up taking down the Party Poker 500k guaranteed tournament last week for 140k. That is fine, except for the fact that it came out after the fact, on pocketfives.com, that the "ablackcar" account was being played by JJProdigy, a well-known and very good online tournament player. The real big problem? JJProdigy had played in the same tournament. So, about twenty minutes after the tournament ended, it was revealed that JJProdigy had had two accounts playing in the same tournament (at least two).
When confronted with this information, JJProdigy said that the "ablackcar" account had been played by his grandmother until the closing stages of the tournament. At that time, JJProdigy took over and finished up the tournament. Anyone with half a brain could see that this was a lie. Someone checked up on the "ablackcar" account, and miraculously, "ablackcar" only played in tournaments that JJProdigy was playing in, and only played tournaments with a large buy-in.
The JJProdigy situation was reported to Party Poker, and they took immediate action, freezing the "ablackcar" account.
Whether Kamberis actually called JJ Prodigy a “f***ing scumbag” is yet to be officially confirmed, but by the looks of things it appears the poker community (at least on TwoPlusTwo.com) is hopeful the incident took place.
