Lakers-Heat Line

The Lakers-Heat game line was posted at Los Angeles -2 and Gambling911.com believes they could have longer odds come game time as Miami continues to struggle, especially against the NBA’s elite.   The total on this game was set at 188.

Two teams headed in opposite directions meet on Thursday night as the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Miami Heat. The Lakers are red-hot having won eight straight games while the Heat are playing their worst basketball of the betting season having lost five straight.

The Lakers are coming off a 101-87 win in Atlanta on Tuesday night.  The Lakers have been playing superb defense of late as they held their fifth straight opponent to 87 points or less. Kobe Bryant had 26 points to lead a Los Angeles team that now looks like the two-time defending champs.  The Lakers are now in the top 10 in the league in both points per game and in fewest points allowed.

Thursday’s game might be looked at as a revenge game since the Heat routed the Lakers 96-80 on Christmas Day but no one really seems to be talking about the angle because of how the two teams are playing.  The Lakers are rolling while the Heat is coming apart.   The Lakers have struggled against the Heat as they are 0-5 ATS against Miami since 2008.

Miami has not only lost five in a row straight up; they are currently on a seven-game losing streak against the point spread.  The Heat continues to have trouble against winning teams. In this five-game losing streak they have fallen to New York, Orlando, San Antonio, Chicago and Portland.

Miami has really been poor at home against the number going 11-20 ATS. Here are more basketball betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Lakers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Lakers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 vs. the Southeast. The Lakers are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 Thursday games. The Heat are 35-14-2 ATS in their last 51 vs. the Pacific. The Heat are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games. The Heat are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games.

The Under is 4-1 in the Lakers last 5 overall. The Under is 24-9 in the Lakers last 33 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Over is 9-1 in Miami’s last 10 vs. the Western Conference. In this series, the Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Miami.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
