Gonzaga-St. John's Spread

Depending on the sportsbook, the Gonzaga-St. John’s spread was coming in around even with St. John’s the slight -1 favorite at Diamond Sports International.  (but note the line was alternating to a PICK Thursday afternoon).  Action had St. John’s getting just under 60 percent of the backing from gamblers on the spread.  The total on this game was listed at 135 with 90 percent of the betting action on the OVER.

Gonzaga has not performed well Against The Spread in recent NCAA Tournament games.  They are a very unimpressive 1-6 ATS.

The Red Storm, meanwhile, are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.

Against Big East conference opponents since 1997, Gonzaga is 8-2 ATS.

A key player for St. John’s, DJ Kennedy, is out with a torn right ACL.  He is the team’s top rebounder.

"A devastating blow," said Red Storm first-year coach Steve Lavin.

"There's no one player that has to step up to try to offset the loss of D.J.," Lavin said. "We need to do it collectively as a group, instead of one of our players trying to be a hero."

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
