San Diego State odds to win 2011 NCAA Championship

San Diego State odds to win the 2011 NCAA Championship were at 20/1 at Bookmaker.com.  Prior to the Tournament, the Aztecs odds were actually shorter at 15/1, so there is certainly tremendous value for those who waited.

D.J. Gay has been averaging 11 points per game and three assists.  Soph. F Kawhi Leonard averages 16.5 points per game.

The Aztecs have one of the best front courts in the Tournament.  They also have former Michigan Head Coach, Steve Fisher, at the helm.  He brought his former team into the Sweet 16 a total of four times.

The Sweet 16 is uncharted territory for San Diego, which has never won a Tournament game until this year (winning two).

Coming into their game against U Conn, it will be pertinent for San Diego State to contain one of the best players in College Basketball right now Kemba Walker.  U Conn was a slight 1-point favorite in that game.

San Diego State managed to advance by beating Temple in double overtime with a final score of 71-64.

"We were tired but we knew that we had to win this game," Aztecs point guard DJ Gay said after playing all 50 minutes. "We just wanted it a little bit more. We just sucked it up."

Billy White made the go-ahead jumper and Leonard completed two free throws as the second-seeded Aztecs (34-2) ended up victorious.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
