UB.com officially decided to prohibit US customers from playing in their card room for “real cash” effective Wednesday morning.

A popup announcement appeared on the site for any US resident attempting to access the cash rooms.  The company had permitted “real cash” play for the past few years following an indictment handed down by the US Justice Department.

Two other online poker rooms – PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker – were also indicted and charged with bank fraud in connection with alleged misrepresentation of gambling transactions via a Utah-based bank also used by UB.com and its sister site Absolute Poker.  The Feds seized all associated domain names and several bank accounts.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, which licenses and regulates UB.com, reassured the poker public on Tuesday.

“Our principal concern is that players are not adversely affected by the actions taken by US authorities. The KGC is presently engaged in discussions with its licensee concerning the status of player accounts. Upon completion of its review, the KGC will determine what steps may be required and will issue a further statement at that time.”
