UFC 129 on Saturday in Toronto marks the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first ever event in Canada’s largest city and is expected to draw the largest crowd in UFC history.

It’s fitting, then, that the MMA event will feature not one, but two championship bouts.

The main event has UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre defending his title against Jake Shields. St-Pierre is a -360 favorite and Shields is a +280 underdog in UFC Odds at betED.com.

Any fight involving St-Pierre, a Canadian from Montreal, is always highly anticipated, as he has earned a reputation as one of the most complete competitors in Mixed Martial Arts, and as a result has become one of the sport’s most popular figures.

There isn’t one thing that sets St-Pierre apart from other UFC fighters, but several, namely his ability to mix several disciplines – including wrestling, boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – into his fighting style.

Shields, who is on a 15-fight winning streak, got his title shot with a win over Martin Kampann at UFC 121.

Also Saturday, the co-main event has Canadian Mark Hominick challenging featherweight champion José Aldo.
Aldo is a -550 favorite and Hominick is a +350 underdog in MMA Betting at betED.com.

Hominick, 20-8, was able to get a shot at the featherweight title when he destroyed George Roop at the UFC’s Fight for the Troops 2 in January. Despite having less than 10 strikes, Hominick had multiple knockdowns against Roop.

Aldo, who has 12 knockouts and two submissions since his UFC debut seven years ago, will be defending his title for the first time.
