Austria may be home to pfelstrudel, Pez candy, the Waltz, Mozart, Freud, Hitler (unfortunately), Red Bull and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Now this beautiful country is being known for its abundance of gambling addicts – 64,000 of them according to a recent Gallop poll.

Gallup also said that five per cent of people playing Internet games are at risk of becoming addicted.

The institute’s survey was conducted between 2009 and this year.

The good news for Austria (or maybe not) is that the country’s average does mimic that of much of Europe.

The study pertained to slots and sports betting. Austria just happens to be the home of Europe’s biggest sports betting company, bwin, now merged with PartyGaming.

The population of Austria is just over 8 million.

Football is king in Texas. We won't pretend to suggest another sport reigns superior despite every major league having one or more teams in the Lone Star State. San Antonio may be a rare exception to the rule....and there's a new sheriff in town to give the Spurs a run for their money.
