WSOP Event 2, the $25,000 Heads-Up World Championship: Gus Hansen vs. Jake Cody
Two of the biggest names in poker today, Gus Hansen and Jake Cody, will go head-to-head as part of the final four WSOP Event 2 $25,000 Heads-Up World Championship
The first WSOP bracelet of 2011 was awarded on Day 3 of poker’s biggest event. Sean Drake was the lucky recipient. He emerged victorious as the winner of the Casino Employee event 1. Meanwhile, Denmark’s poker phenom Gus Hansen was making a run for his second World Series of Poker bracelet. Up until last year’s win at the World Series of Poker Europe 10,000-pound buy-in heads-up event, Hansen had never won a WSOP bracelet.
Hansen was slated to take on Jake Cody Friday evening as part of the final four matchups in the Event 2, the $25,000 Heads-Up World Championship.
Hansen has been on fire over the past year, winning more than $3.9 million in the high stakes cash games and $1 million at the Poker Million IX.
Not to be outdone, the 22-year-old Cody captured a SCOOP title for more than $235,000 last month. He has over $2 million in live career winnings to date.
Making up the rest of the $25,000 Heads-Up World Championship final four is Eric Froehlich vs. Yevgeniy Timoshenko.
Both are established pros with Timoshenko winning more than $3.4 million in his live poker tournament career and Froehlich with over $1.6 million.
