An online gambling company with close ties to the disgraced sports betting venture World Sports Exchange has signed on poker pro Jeffrey “Iceman” Lisandro as its “world ambassador”.   Matchbook.com, based in Dublin, Ireland, has long had associations with WSEX, which lost its Antiguan license last year and continues to slow pay players by several months.

Earlier in the year Matchbook.com announced it had “new ownership” without going into any explicit detail.  Many suggested this was no more than a corporate shell game in an effort to distance itself from WSEX.com, a company it reportedly owned shares in for a number of years.

The company claims in a release:

In early 2011, Matchbook came under new ownership which brought financial backing and human resources which has given it the ability to realize its phenomenal global potential. Matchbook's business model of offering the best odds and lowest commission will soon revolutionize the way people bet and trade sports. In addition to the best odds in sports from around the globe Matchbook has added, and begun to promote, WSOP bracelet betting markets. A tremendous area of growth for Matchbook is the "savvy" price sensitive European poker player who love our high volume low commission model. Check out our odds and BET ON or AGAINST your favourite players to win bracelets at the 2011 WSOP.

Matchbook.com itself hasn’t experienced significant payout delays when compared to industry norms during this trying period, it should be noted.

"We want to give people the opportunity to share Jeffrey's success at the WSOP and other tournaments on the poker circuit by laying down several new markets in our new poker section."

Matchbook.com’s poker room is believed to receive limited action.
