Even with the exit of three major online poker rooms from the US market and while thousands of players are still unable to receive their funds from two of those rooms – Full Tilt Poker and Absolute – the Punta Cana Poker Classic 2011 is already drawing major interest and could prove to be one of the most successful tournaments of the year.
Online poker rooms sending players to the event via satellite tournaments include DoylesRoom.com, BetDSI Poker, True Poker, while Bodog Poker is expected to feature tournaments as well.
A representative from the Punta Cana Poker Classic tells Gambling911.com that the second annual event has already met initial expectations. Like last year, Gambling911 will cover the event live from the Dominican Republic with Senior International Correspondent Jenny Woo providing around the clock coverage. G911 is slated to have its first ever Web production camera crew on hand to feature video coverage of the Punta Cana Poker Classic.
The event consists of a 5 day Texas Hold’em event that takes place from November 8thto 13th2011. The tournament is hosted in the five-star the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Trust us when we say this is one of the best resorts we’ve ever stayed out, and all-inclusive to boot. And by “all-inclusive” we are talking top shelf alcohol and excellent food in a variety of themed restaurants, not the cheap drinks and buffet style fare one might find at other so-called “all-inclusive” resorts.
$500,000 is being guaranteed. A high roller event is scheduled at the start of this year’s Punta Cana Poker Classic. Big name pros will be on hand, including, quite possibly, the legendary Doyle Brunson (Jenny will likely ensure his presence, though we should stress he is not yet confirmed).
