2011 WSOP Updates

Here are your latest WSOP updates for June 18, 2011.

The Ukraine’s Oleksii Kovalchuk won the bracelet and cashed out $689K at the Event No. 26, $2.5k 6 max NL Holdem.

“It is the first time in my life [I hit a one outer].  It was a one chance in a lifetime thing,” Kovalchuk said following the win. 

Kovalchuk claims he was more interested in winning a bracelet than the cash prize.

“I don’t think about [the money].  I played the game to win the bracelet.  The money is for second place.”

But the money is sweet, that much is for sure.

Britain’s Chris “moorman1″ Moorman took third in this event.  He is a Brunson 10 member. 

Event No. 27, $10k Limit Holdem Championship, resulted in a Canadian winning.  Daniel Idema took home the bracelet for Canada and nearly $300K to boot. 

“I feel very fortunate, I think I played extremely well but it’s a tournament and the short term luck was generally with me thorughout the two tournaments. Last year I think I got a little unlucky when it came to heads-up, mind you I was running good to get to heads,” said Idema. “Altogether it’s just a surreal turn of events. I really look at it in kind of a funny way, it’s shocking. It hasn’t set in yet.”
