Ashley Young Five-Year Deal to Man United Likely
SkySport is reporting that Ashley Young has undergone a medical and is likely to finalise a five-year deal with Manchester United, with an announcement likely over the weekend.
Aston Villa Manager Alex McLeish was resigned to losing Young this week.
"In my humble opinion it will be very difficult [to keep hold of him]."
The online betting exchange Betfair listed Young as a 1/100 favorite not to still be playing for Aston by summer’s end.
Skybet.com, meanwhile, listed Young as a 16/1 long shot to be named PFA Player of the Year. They also offered up Young with 8/1 odds of being Man United’s top scorer.
Manchester United is the current favorite to win the 2011 – 2012 Premier League at 7/4 odds (William Hill).
During the 2010-11 season, Young was made vice-captain of Aston Villa and played in a new free role behind the striker. He scored his first goal of the 2010-11 season with a direct free-kick against Bolton on 18 September 2010. He ended the season with nine goals and fourteen assists in 39 appearances for Villa in all competitions.
