US Presidential Betting: How Many States Obama, McCain Will Win

With Democratic US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama seemingly running away with the race to the White House, gamblers are less inclined to lay $700 to win $100 or $70 to win $10 (the money bet is returned should Obama win). Republican candidate John McCain has all but been written off. The risk, however, is nominal: Bet $100 to win $400 at Sportsbook.com
But there is a more attractive option now available from Sportsbook.com. It's number of states that will be won by each candidate, whether they become President or not.
The Democrats are expected to win 26 to 30 states, which is the -120 favorite. A $120 bet would pay $100 ($120 is paid back in addition to the $100 if this bet is a winner). 31 to 35 states pays $120 for every $100 bet. Some good value could be found with 36 or more states won by Obama. The payout there would be $500 for every $100 bet.

For the Republicans, 15 or less pays $700 for every $100 bet. 21 to 25 is the favorite with a $250 bet paying $100. John McCain becomes President with 31 to 35 states won we suspect and the payout would bet $3000 for every $100 bet.
