Daniel Negreanu Accuses Michael Binger of Cheating at WSOP Event 37: $10k H.O.R.S.E.
The always outspoken Daniel Negreanu this past week accused Michael Binger of cheating during the World Series of Poker Event 37: $10k H.O.R.S.E. by engaging in angle shooting.
The 3rd place finisher at the 2006 WSOP Main Event for $4,123,310, Binger was alleged to be “angle shooting” by Negreanu.
What is angle shooting?
Angle shooting, in and of itself, may not actually fall under the category of cheating, however, such activity consists of practices viewed as unethical and exploitive. One example of angle shooting is motioning as if to fold one’s hand as a means of inducing other players to fold theirs out of turn. Online, angle shooting can consist of abusing the disconnect protection rules most websites have in place.
In the case of Binger, the debate involved whether a specific player should be compelled to make a raise. Binger apparently made a bet that was one half of what the rules state.

The action began with a 6,000 pre-flop raise, only for Binger to three-bet to 9,000. The blinds folded and the original raiser then called, before checking a Kd-6d-8c flop. Binger then made a 1,500 bet, only to see his opponent raise that to 3,000.
This is when Negreanu got involved because, with the limits set at 3,000 and 6,000, Binger’s bet was just half of what the rules state.
By day’s end, Binger would end up the chip leader. Binger did fold after the incident.
