Poker Players Championship 2011 – Phil Hellmuth, Gus Hansen Lead the Pack
Familiar faces were among those atop the leaderboard of the 2011 Poker Players Championship, the World Series of Poker’s second most prestigious event. Phil Hellmuth and Gus Hansen were right up there while Scott Seiver sat on top with the most chips. Seiver has won just shy of $4 million in career live tournaments.
The Phil Hellmuth watch continues as he is gunning for a 12th WSOP bracelet, having come close on two occasions during this year’s tournament. Hellmuth cashed out in 2nd place at two World Series of Poker events.
This year’s PPC featured a $50,000 buy-in that attracted 128 players, up from 116 last year. The total prize pool will be $6,144,000, with over $1.7 million going to first place. The top 16 players in total will be paid, with even 16thplace paying over $100,000.
After the first two days of play, 74 players remain in the running.
