Wynn Takes Bets on the World Series of Poker

If you are looking to place a bet on who will win the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event and happen to be in Las Vegas, Wynn will now take your action. They have become the very first Vegas casino to start taking bets on nonsporting events as part of recently enacted Nevada state policy guidelines.

Entrants can now essentially bet on themselves.

Wynn Race and Sports Director Johnny Avello told the AP that regulators approved the wagers on Tuesday after more than one month of work, to satisfy that the event is legitimate enough to prevent players from having a significant edge on bets.
"This just opens the door to do a lot of things," Avello said.

Around $10,000 in bets were received on the WSOP on Wednesday.

Soon casinos like Wynn will be able to offer betting on such things as the Academy Awards, US Presidential elections and American Idol.
