Sharks on Feeding Frenzy: Everest Poker Big Winner After Full Tilt Poker Shutdown
9300 Full Tilt Poker players were looking for new homes after the company was shut down two weeks ago and Everest Poker appears to have captured a good chunk of them.
The online poker rooms in Europe smell blood and Everest has been no exception.
Some 5000 or nearly 54 percent have moved on to new homes with Everest gaining some 46 percent increase in traffic since the FTP closure.
Everest, which does not accept players from the US, has averaged around 1100 “real cash” players on a weekly basis and ranks as the 13th biggest online poker room in the world. It is within striking distance of International and Entraction to begin knocking on the door of the top 10.
So what exactly is Everest currently offering that makes this online poker network more appealing than its competitors, who themselves have been extremely aggressive when it comes to going after Full Tilt Poker’s traffic.
They were offering a $500 signup bonus, $100 better than the $400 being offered by 888Poker, a Gambling911.com sponsor. 888 itself has seen a 24 percent increase. Its offer is still lucrative plus they feature free daily freerolls, a webcam poker room, shopping coupons to $3,000, instant cash & more prizes, including a Sunday $100,000 prize pool. Plus 888 offers betting on sports.
The best offer we could find by far was the €1250 signup bonus at William Hill, which is using the iPoker platform. There are also €2400 in free roll tournaments.
iPoker has seen its numbers increase by 24 percent since the Full Tilt Poker shut down but it did not appear all of its online poker skins were offering the same aggressive signup bonus as William Hill. The William Hill online poker room was offering up to €700 in free bonus cash prior to the Full Tilt Poker shutdown.
Elsewhere, PartyPoker waived all tournament fees and has seen a dramatic 35 percent increase in traffic but, more importantly, their overall numbers are way up to 1246 on average.
European players are certainly not scared to play with online poker rooms indicted by the US Justice Department despite what has transpired with Full Tilt Poker. PokerStars has seen the most dramatic growth in terms of overall number increases – 3382 new players and a 17 percent positive change. PokerStars, unlike Full Tilt, paid back all its US customers, which has obviously instilled confidence in Euro players. The software and high stakes play at Stars really can’t be beaten.
