Reports from NFL.com suggested that NFL owners and players are very close to an agreement for a new rookie wage scale, perhaps the last sticking point that could ultimately end the excruciatingly long NFL lockout in the coming days.

The owners have made concessions regarding the fifth-year compensation for rookies, sources told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.

Also from NFL.com:

Sources additionally told La Canfora that negotiations are scheduled to go past midnight Thursday, and both sides expect to be back at the table Friday morning. It's unclear at this point if the face-to-face talks will continue into the weekend.

One league source referred to this as "deadline time," when negotiators need to "do what it takes" to close a deal, according to NFL.com.
