Full Tilt Poker lawyers requested private hearing, media asked to leave, determination to be made if hearing gets postponed to later date

Tuesday’s hearing by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) revealed that Full Tilt Poker owes $250,000 in back licensing fees.  The hearing was being conducted to determine if FTP’s license would be reinstated.

Full Tilt Poker attorneys were requesting a postponement of the hearing and that it be held in private due to “sensitive subject matter that might impede a potential acquisition of the company”.

Lawyers for what was once the second largest online poker room claim that a group of European investors were looking to purchase the company.

Alderney agreed to hold the hearing in private Tuesday morning.  Media was kicked out of the hearing.  It would then be determined later in the morning if this matter might be postponed to a future date.

Attorneys for FTP noted that they did not wish to pay the $250,000 unless they can be guaranteed that the license be reinstated.

“It’s not about the $250,000,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chili Poker, who had an “insider” on the scene.  Dreyfus was on air with Quadjacks.com.  “It is a legal prospect, it is the law, if you don’t pay your fees you don’t have your license.”

Dreyfus insisted that the funds owed were just a formality and insisted that the payment of fees would not automatically result in FTP’s license being reinstated.

Additional news was not expected for a few hours as all parties were on break for the next two hours.
