888Poker.com has jumped to the number 5 spot on the worldwide real cash poker traffic monitoring, propelled heavily by newly introduced cash games in Italy (Cash Games Online Italia 24 Ora)

Cash games are now permitted around the clock in Italy as of last week.  Italy’s poker market is now the biggest in all of Europe, which is evidenced by 888’s presence within the top 5 along with PokerStars.it in the number 4 spot.  iPoker.it was the 13th biggest online poker room in the world.

Italy regulators previously only permitted online poker tournament play.

Paolo Di Feo, Southern Regional Director for bwin.party, said, “We are excited about the launch of cash game poker in Italy. Cash game poker requires less effort from the player and is particularly appealing if you just want to play for a limited period of time. We are delighted that Ongame is one of the first-movers into this exciting new segment of the Italian market.”

The cash game news comes on the heels of 888 reporting last week that second quarter figures with year-on-year revenue growth was up 29% to US$79m.
