NFL Power Rankings

Carrie Stroup here! Gambling911.com has released its 2008 Week 9 NFL Power Rankings along with odds for each of the top teams and changes from last week courtesy of Sportsbook.com, which was offering future betting odds on teams chances to win the 2009 Super Bowl.

The number in (parentheses) is last week's ranking.

To nobody's surprise, Tennessee remains on top of the heap, followed closely by the New York Giants after both teams enjoyed impressive wins last weekend.

Much of the Top 10 remains unchanged but that doesn't mean there aren't some up-and-comers waiting in the wings.

  • 1. (1) Tennessee Titans - Fox Sports writes: Tennessee found the spotlight mighty enticing last night, and responded as an unbeaten should. Minus the garbage-time touchdown at the end, the Titans whipped the Colts and with their schedule, the only team they have to fear is themselves. This team still has great value to win the 2009 Super Bowl at Sportsbook.com with a payout potential of $400 on every $100 bet. We say - LOCK THIS ONE IN NOW!
  • 2. (2) New York Giants - Another solid team with only one hiccup this season. Oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com also have the Giants with +400 odds.
  • 3. (3) Pittsburgh Steelers - So what if they lost against the Giants. This beat up team still looks dangerous and - quite frankly - better than most other teams. Oh and Sportsbook.com has them at +1200 odds for a payout potential of $1200 on every $100 bet. We like those odds.
  • 4. (4) Washington Redskins - The Redskins are looking like they will have no problem making into the Playoffs this season. That's saying a lot considering the team plays in what is arguably the toughest division. They would pay $1200 with a $100 bet if with a 2009 Super Bowl win.
  • 5. (5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - They dropped one to Dallas last week but there weren't any other teams worthy just yet to pass by the Bucs who are huge +3000 long shots to win the 2009 Super Bowl.
  • 6. (6) Buffalo Bills - A big loss to the Miami Dolphins, but like the Bucs, there weren't any teams looking to pass by the Bills this week firmly entrenched in the number 6 spot. The Bills had odds of +1500 to win the 2009 Super Bowl.
  • 7. (7) Carolina Panthers - Why not just copy the NFL rankings from last week? The Panthers won their game this past week but it wasn't enough to push them past the Bills and Bucs in the rankings. Carolina pays $1500 for every $100 bet to win the Super Bowl at Sportsbook.com
  • 8. (8) Chicago Bears - The Bears didn't have to play this week and that was good enough to maintain their number 8 spot. The Bears own the NFL's second-highest scoring offense - something to ponder for anyone who wants to bet the Bears to win the 2009 Super Bowl at +2500 odds.
  • 9. (14) New England Patriots - Finally a change in rankings from last week. It's the forgotten New England Patriots who sit at 5-2. As Fox Sports points out, Sure, New England's two losses were brutal ... but those five wins look pretty good doing it with a quarterback who had not started a football game since high school. They were at +1500 odds to win the Super Bowl.
  • 10. (9) Dallas Cowboys - Yeah they finally won last week after a three game skid. It was an ugly win against the Bucs though. They might have the best payout odds yet to win the 2009 Super Bowl at Sportsbook.com - $1000 for every $100 bet.
  • 11. (11) Arizona Cardinals
  • 12. (16) Philadelphia Eagles
  • 13. (13) New York Jets
  • 14. (19) Baltimore Ravens
  • 15. (10) Indianapolis Colts
  • 16. (12) San Diego Chargers
  • 17. (20) Green Bay Packers
  • 18. (17) Atlanta Falcons
  • 19. (18) Denver Broncos
  • 20. (15) Jacksonville Jaguars
  • 21. (21) Miami Dolphins
  • 22. (24) Cleveland Browns
  • 23. (23) New Orleans Saints
  • 24. (25) Houston Texans
  • 25. (22) Minnesota Vikings
  • 26. (26) St. Louis Rams
  • 27. (30) Seattle Seahawks
  • 28. (27) Oakland Raiders
  • 29. (29) Kansas City Chiefs
  • 30. (28) San Francisco 49ers
  • 31. (31) Cincinnati Bengals
  • 32. (32) Detroit Lions
