The Dallas Cowboys odds to win the 2012 Super Bowl were set at 22/1 and their odds of winning the NFC East were at 3/1.  All odds courtesy of Bookmaker, the oldest established North American sportsbook online today.

This promises to be one of the most unpredictable divisions so a bet on Dallas at the current price certainly has some value.  Likewise, the oddsmakers believe the Cowboys are capable of winning 9 games during the regular season with the OVER/UNDER set at -115 odds

It’s easy to see why sports bettors will get such great value with the Cowboys this season.  Dallas started last year with a 1-7 record and there are few who believe that will happen again.  The Cowboys concluded the season 5-3 under new head coach Jason Garrett.

Dallas has some very talented players.  On offense there is the proven quarterback Tony Romo with big targets in which to throw to this season, including the likes of Miles Austin and Dez Bryant.

There are concerns with the Cowboys passing game and its lack of depth and the offensive line gets even more worrisome.

There is also a big question mark on the defensive side with Rob Ryan as the new coordinator.   Don’t expect miracles early on though.  This is a defensive unit that ranked 23rd last season.  Ryan has his work cut out for him.

Special teams should succeed but David Buehler did miss 3 of 7 attempts from 30 to 39 yards last season.

The Cowboys need to grow up fast and adapt to Ryan’s new defensive scheme but we see potential for winning the division and the OVER 9 regular season games.

Odds to win the NFC East 2011-2012

Dallas Cowboys - 3/1

New York Giants - 3/1

Philadelphia Eagles - 1/2

Washington Redskins 25/1
