The Texas Tech Red Raiders promised a $2000 payout for every $100 bet if they were to go on and win the 2009 BCS Championship.  These odds will be slashed after this week following their improbable win over the Texas Longhorns, which pretty much knocked them out of contention for the BCS title game.

Obviously, anyone who had the Red Raiders early could stand to win much more than $2000.  And this applies to just about any team currently in contention with the fall of number one's promising to create an entirely new landscape for the BCS Championship.

Texas Tech beat Texas 39-33 Saturday night.

Texas' defense did a good job containing Tech's offense, allowing them only 73 yards in the third quarter. The Red Raiders struggled with poor field position and some uncharacteristic conservatism as coach Mike Leach has chosen to run the ball extensively close to his own end zone.

Our own Tony George had Texas Tech able to cover the +6 line, though he believed Texas could still win by 3 points.

Prior to the game, George had this to say:  "Out on a limb here, but after I witnessed what Texas Tech did to Kansas and Texas having back to back to back games with OU, Mizzou and Oklahoma State, this is a tough spot for Texas. I will say this, if Texas wins this game, just give them a national title, no one in the USA has a tougher schedule the past 4 weeks including any SEC team. That being said I am going with the Longhorns to win here, who have beaten every foe they have faced including a team that is is explosive on the ground and through the air in Oklahoma State."
