iPoker Traffic Falls But Remains Ahead of PartyPoker

In the battle for number two, iPoker’s world poker traffic remained better than PartyPoker for another week and throughout much of August according to PokerScout.com, the traffic monitoring website.

iPoker still witnessed a 2 percent drop in traffic but did hold a sizeable 5 percent lead over Party, which witnessed a 3 percent dropoff.  The later company was immersed in controversy throughout last week after vowing to restructure its rake program and increase the average rake at mid-stakes no limit games as high as 50 percent, thus crushing many winning (tight) players.  In the end, however, it is doubtful that their decision (now put off indefinitely) had much to do with the decrease in traffic since Party relies so heavily on fish.   Management obviously feared a more widespread public relations nightmare beyond the TwoPlusTwo.com boards.

September is widely seen as a period in which poker players return from their summer vacations and begin playing again so traffic is expected to increase across the board.  This week’s traffic overall was up about a half percentage point.
