Harness Racing betting is among the most exciting features at Gambling911.com’s newest sponsor, TwinSpires.com, which just happens to be licensed in the US and owned by the most prestigious name in horse racing, Churchill Downs.

Yes, there is a downside to TwinSpires.com.  That is some states don’t permit horse racing betting online.  These are few and far in between (New Jersey, Georgia among them).

Everyone else in the US can enjoy placing bets on the big races and harness racing events.

For those not familiar, harness racing is a form of horse racing in which the horses race at a specific trot (pace) and are usually pulling a two-wheeled cart called a sulky.

One of the biggest harness racing events was taking place during Labor Day Weekend, The $1 Million Metro Pace at the Mohawk Racetrack in Ontario, Canada.

The Metro is one of four big stakes races on the Saturday Mohawk card, notes David Briggs of the Guelph Mercury:

The inaugural $100,000 Spring Of Hope for older pacing mares — and starring reigning Canadian horse of the year Dreamfair Eternal — goes to post in race three (7:50 p.m.).

The $633,000 Shes A Great Lady for two-year-old pacing fillies (and featuring three horses by U.S.-based trotting trainer Jimmy Takter) is race seven (9:25 p.m.).

The nation’s oldest harness race, the 69th edition of the $832,000 Canadian Pacing Derby for older pacers is race 10 (10:45 p.m.). Trainer Ben Wallace, of Guelph, will send out Art Professor in that race, with Jody Jamieson in the sulky (post three). Art Professor was a close second in his Canadian Pacing Derby elimination Saturday.

If all that alone doesn’t make for a jam-packed Labour Day weekend of harness racing, on Sunday Clinton Raceway in Clinton, Ont., will play host to its wildly popular Legends Day card.
