The Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Bucs line was coming in at Tampa -1.5 after opening at -4.  The main reason for the dramatic drop has to do with Detroit winning all its preseason games.  The public was backing the Lions heavily on the spread at an 85 percent clip.  The total in this game, 41, had around 85 percent backing the OVER.

The Lions defensive line could be one of the best in the league with the likes of NFL defensive rookie of the year Ndamukong Suh and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch along with Cliff Avril and Corey Williams.

The Lions were also able to bolster their linebacking corps with Stephen Tulloch and Justin Durant.

"Have we taken some big steps in personnel on this team? Yeah, we sure have. None of that means a thing if we don't do it on the field," Schwartz said. "... That's the only goal we have right now, is to go have a good week of preparation for Tampa Bay."

These two teams have split the series since 2005.  It is interesting to note that the Lions are 4-0 ATS when playing in Tampa Bay

The Lions are 5-0 Against The Spread in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 ATS as an underdog.

Detroit is 10-2 ATS against conference opponents over the last 2 seasons.

Tampa Bay is 3-11 ATS in home games over the last 3 seasons.TAMPA BAY is 3-11 ATS (-9.1 Units) in home lined games over the last 3 seasons.

The weather could be a factor for dome team Detroit with temperatures expected to hover around the low 90’s and it is extremely humid here in Florida currently.
