The bookies were seeing a few 2011 Week 1 NFL games getting heavy lopsided betting action.  For these games, the bookies will be rooting for the underdog….or maybe not.

In the case of the Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game, bookies will be rooting for the favorite, Baltimore, at -1.5 odds.  That’s because the Steelers were getting around 85 percent of the spread action.

Likewise, Detroit was also a 1.5 underdog in Tampa and they, too, were seeing between 80 percent and 85 percent betting action on the spread.

The Chicago Bears are an underdog the bookies will be cheering in a big way.  More than 80 percent of the public betting this game were backing both the spread and money line.  Chicago was a +3 point home dog here.

The Buffalo Bills were getting some significant lopsided action on the money line with 90 percent of those wagering the Bills would win outright and potentially pay out $220 for every $100 bet.

The Houston Texans money line was pricey at -400, yet more than 80 percent were backing the Texans to win outright at that price.

The Browns were getting 93 percent of the spread action.  That line was -6.5.  They were also getting 90 percent of the money line action.  Bookies will be rooting for the Bengals here.

Tennessee was getting 95 percent of the money line action to beat Jacksonville.

Another side the bookies will be cheering loudly for is the Carolina Panthers.  Nearly all the money line action was on Arizona while they were getting around 93 percent of the spread action at -7.

The Seahawks were getting 90 percent of the money line action and would pay out $200 for every $100 bet should they win outright.

Bookies will want the Dolphins to upset or at least cover Monday night against New England.  Both the spread and money line were seeing 90 percent action each.
