A 23-year-old mother claims she was tricked into driving a getaway car used in the commission of a knife-point robbery at a Ladbrokes betting shop.  The robber, Leah Gibbs says, was a man she met for a first date through the social media website Facebook.

The mother of two planned on a “DVD first date” with 21-year-old Adam Minton.  Instead, Minton asked her to drive him to see a friend.  She drove him to a shopping mall, waited in the car, and, upon his return, Minton ordered her to “Go! Go! Go!”

After driving him home, Minton became rude and Gibbs said she decided to terminate the date.  As she was about to leave, the police arrived and arrested both of them.

Police accused Gibbs of being an accomplice in the Ladbrokes robbery.

Miss Gibbs, from Tylorstown, South Wales, said: 'I thought I would be ending the night in Adam's arms. Instead, he had landed in the long arms of the law and I was facing jail.

'I'm not a bad person. I was duped. It could have happened to anyone.'

Minton had worn a black bandana and threatened a cashier with a large kitchen knife. He got away with £250.

Gibbs was eventually released after Minton insisted she knew nothing about the crime.
