The folks from DonBest.com bring up an interesting theory as to why Man City might have trouble in this game, the draw probably looking the most enticing.

If there is a concern on the City side it is that of fixture congestion as the calendar moves into late September.  After barely taking a breath while winning their first four EPL matches (including a pair at home at Eastlands by a combined 7-0 over outmatched Swansea City and Wigan), the Blues hit a couple of bumps when matches began piling up last week, held to a 1-1 draw in Champs League action at midweek by rugged Napoli and then allowing Fulham to split the spoils over the weekend in London.

Things are not any easier this week, though Mancini will likely feature reserves in Carling Cup duties vs. Birmingham City at midweek preceding the Everton match.  Three days later, however, another challenging Champs League assignment awaits, this one at Bayern Munich.

Mancini has sufficient depth at his disposal, and components who have endured the distractions of Champs League duties in the past, but the fact remains this is City’s first adventure into Europe’s premier club event.  And early evidence has indicated the extra high-profile matches might take some adjusting by the Blues, with the spillover perhaps impacting EPL results.  We’ll see how City responds on Saturday.
